Sales Manager- Western US

~

Location: Santa Monica, CA                       Status: Full-Time       Start Date: Immediately

Position Scope:  The Sales Manager, Western Region will work closely with the national sales director in the planning, management, and execution of Retail Sales for this part of the country.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Planning: Support building of annual trade promotion calendar for region across retail customers
  •  Identifying and executing on opportunities to expand the sales of Foodstirs within multiple retail channels throughout the Western Territory plus Regional Distributors (Market Centre) and E-tailers (Amazon Fresh, Good Eggs, Thrive, etc.), which includes working with Foodstirs broker and distributor network to maximize sales and distribution opportunities
  • Managing all appointed brokers and distributors to achieve quality distribution in targeted accounts, including ensuring timely execution on new item introductions, schematic implementation and promotional programming and that they have all necessary resources required to succeed in the marketplace (e.g., product samples, sell sheets, promotional calendars, etc.)
  • Developing and monitoring incentive programs, contests, etc. in order to keep Foodstirs top-of-mind
  • Ensuring that all related POS (e.g. secondary displays, shelf talkers, on-pack coupons, etc.) are ordered in the right quantities and utilized effectively in the marketplace. Requesting and analyzing distribution reports to determine market coverage and opportunities for future growth
  • Conducting store audits (with broker management and/or field sales reps where possible) to ensure merchandising standards are adhered to and promotional programming is being executed
  • Identifying and attending trade shows and sampling opportunities to represent the brand and develop sales opportunities

Account HQ Responsibilities include: Market Centre, Sprouts, Albertsons/Safeway (SoCal, NorCal, Seattle, Portland and Phoenix Divisions), Raley’s, New Seasons, PCC, Haggen, Harmons, Lucky’s/SaveMart, Bristol Farms, Lassen’s, Gelsons, Jimbo’s, Mother’s, Lazy Acres, Erewhon, Hucks, Yokes, Sherms, Super1, ION Group, Chuck’s Produce, Market of Choice, Etailers (including Amazon Fresh, Thrive, Good Eggs), Bartell Drug.

If bandwidth and experience allows, taking over the TX/AR/LA/OK territory that includes HEB, Central Market, United/Market Street, Rouse’s, Reasor’s, Brookshire’s and Brookshire Brothers would be ideal.

Essential Qualifications for Success at Foodstirs:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field

High-level experience in the Food Industry (Whole Foods, Sprouts, NCGA, INFRA, Safeway, Kroger, Ahold) with CPG selling background in dry baking mix and center store spaces highly preferred

Established relationships and demonstrated success working with key retail accounts along with the leading brokers and distributors (UNFI, KeHE, Market Centre, etc.), servicing these channels

Strong planning and organizational along with excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills, including full competence with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook)

Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

      Sales Coordinator

      Position Scope:  The Sales Coordinator will work closely with the Foodstirs Sales team in the planning, management, and execution of Retail Sales.  Position requires the ideal candidate to be entrepreneurial, scrappy and savvy to support, develop and identify opportunities to drive distribution and sales growth                           

      Major Responsibilities:

      1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Foodstirs Sales; business policies, processes, and best practices to provide a high level of support to customers, partners and internal Sales team
      2. Review and adjust promotional activity (as needed) including, but not limited to:
        1. Entering promotional plan activity, Analysis and adjust base forecast for promotional activity, Analysis and adjust incremental forecast promotional activity, Review promotional activity for reporting and analysis with Field Sales team
      3. Customer portal entry and management
      4. Full lifecycle management of all promotional plans
      5. Resolve pricing discrepancies, deduction research & resolution 
      6. Weekly status and activity calls with Sales Managers & Merchandisers
      7. Coordinate the completion of other general sales administration requests received by Sales Managers, including but not limited to: New Item Forms, Cost Change Forms, Image Requests, Sample Requests, etc., Identify tactical sales administration implications for changing business conditions and rapidly execute (i.e. new products, pricing changes, etc.) 

      Other Responsibilities:

      1. Provide targeted executional focus and manage Foodstirs resources throughout the SoCal territory.

      Social Media/Influencer Marketing Coordinator

      Position Scope: The Social Media + Influencer Marketing Coordinator will work closely with the CEO and COO in the planning and execution of programs that build the brand online and at retail. The Social Media/Influencer Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for tasks such as posting across multiple platforms, commenting on posts, optimizing budgets, and focusing on data / reporting to ensure more success around social media platforms. In addition, this key role serves as the eyes & ears providing critical intelligence on our consumers, category, and company performance.

      Major Responsibilities:

      1. Influencer Outreach: Identify, coordinate and assist in influencer planning and execution
      2. Create innovative and strategic content across all social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube
      3. Collaborate with key cross-functional departments to confirm social media campaign effectiveness; ensure that social media is incorporated into all of the company’s campaigns
      4. Monitor competitive social landscape, market changes, and developments; remain current on emerging industry and digital trends; provide highly strategic recommendations

          Area Sales Manager (Southern California)

          ~

          Location: Santa Monica, CA                       Status: Full-Time       Start Date: Immediately

          Position Scope: The Area Manager – Southern California, will work closely with and report directly to the Region Sales Manager - West, to provide targeted executional focus and manage Foodstirs resources throughout the highly competitive and unique So Cal Area including LA/Orange County/San Diego. Position requires the ideal candidate to be scrappy, savvy, and hit the ground running to develop and identify key relationships and opportunities to drive distribution and sales growth. Responsibilities include oversight of all DSD/Distributor sales activities in So Cal markets to achieve maximum market penetration for all the company’s products in retail channels. This will entail working at both strategic and tactical levels to develop, implement, and manage programs that maximize both short and long-range objectives for the territory’s sales growth; managing day to day relationships with broker, distributer, and retail partners by scheduling ride-alongs, market tours, and store calls; serving as subject matter expert on unique market dynamics and opportunities; and working in close collaboration with the Region Sales Manager to develop and execute best in class distribution, incentive, and promotional plans. 

          It is critical that the Area Manager have a proactive approach to sales development – addressing day-to-day operating issues as well as providing strategic input. He/she will be primarily involved in personal account selling – this could look like a headquarter call at a regional distributer, a ride along in a DSD truck, meetings with co-op owner groups, or a self-motivated market tour identifying key distribution opportunity gaps. Key areas of focus will encompass leadership and subject matter expertise across a variety of fronts – key Area account management and business development, in-store execution of marketing and trade programs & the ability to drive significant distribution gains. All business activities must be done in a way that underscores the social mission of Foodstirs.

          Key Responsibilities:

          1. Strengthening and developing key account, distributer, and broker contacts throughout the So Cal Area to ensure Foodstirs is top of mind and on the leading edge in this highly competitive market 
          2. Working closely and with the support of the Region Sales Manager - West, to develop and implement winning strategies across Natural, Grocery, and Specialty Channels throughout the So Cal territory; translating broad company sales goals and objectives into best in class solutions at the local market level 
          3. Conducting store audits and “ride alongs” (with broker management and/or distributer reps) to maximize sell-in opportunities and ensure timely execution on new item introductions, schematic implementation, promotional programming, and that they have all necessary resources required to succeed in the market place (e.g., product samples, sell sheets, promo calendars, point of sale, etc.) 
          4. Willing to travel throughout the San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles areas 4 days/week to provide the full and consistent coverage needed to over-deliver against sales objectives in this unique market 
          5. Championing Foodstirs as a brand expert and ambassador with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate who and what we are with enthusiasm! 
          6. Negotiating new item and promotional programs in a fast-paced environment to achieve “win-win” outcomes that fall within Foodstirs standards and guardrails 
          7. Leveraging personal relationships with broker and distributer partners to recommend and implement incentive programs to drive distribution and sales 
          8. Work alongside the Region Sales Manager to develop and execute a winning plan for co-op retailers by providing individualized attention and solutions for individual owner groups informed at the HQ level 
          9. Identifying opportunities to build strong connections with key individuals and form meaningful and impactful relationships that benefit the Foodstirs brand (from consumer to buyers and everyone in between). 

          Essential Requirements:

          • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field 
          • Minimum 2-4 years experience in the Natural & Grocery Channels (Whole Foods, Sprouts, Kroger, Albertsons/Safeway, etc) CPG and mission-based selling background in refrigerated/baby/snacks spaces highly preferred. 
          • Specialized experience in the So Cal Area with established relationships and demonstrated success working with a large number of diverse retailers, including direct key account or channel responsibility, along with the leading brokers (Presence Marketing) and distributors (UNFI, KeHe, etc), servicing these channels. 
          • Strong planning & organizational skills along with excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills, including full competence with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook). 
          • Has demonstrated success delivering aggressive sales goals, originating strategic initiatives and building efficient “best-of-class” executions in a resource-limited environment. 
          • Substantial experience in the expansion of distribution for core items as well as for new category disrupters, & addressing the complexities of distributor serviced retail distribution, while maximizing results at the lowest possible overall cost.

              Position Scope: The Social Media / PR / Marketing Intern will work with the Social & Marketing Team on blogger outreach, influencer marketing, social media strategy & execution, the website blog (writing, proposing, and editing posts) and some administrative tasks.

              Key Responsibilities:

              1. Create ideas for engaging and educational social media posts for Instagram, Instagram Stories, Facebook, and Pinterest. (Art will be created by the Design Team.)
              2. Assist with the creation and growth of blogger outreach program.
              3. Coordinate and assist in public relations planning and execution (e.g. write press releases, pitches, make sure materials are up-to-date and available, manage outside PR firm)
              4. Curate blog posts for the website, developing a strong understanding of brand voice and target market.
              5. Provide administrative assistance to marketing team.

                      Position Scope: The Social Media + Influencer Marketing Coordinator will work closely with the CEO and COO in the planning and execution of programs that build the brand online and at retail. The Social Media/Influencer Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for tasks such as posting across multiple platforms, commenting on posts, optimizing budgets, and focusing on data / reporting to ensure more success around social media platforms. In addition, this key role serves as the eyes & ears providing critical intelligence on our consumers, category, and company performance.

                      Major Responsibilities:

                          Position Scope: The Area Manager – Southern California, will work closely with and report directly to the Region Sales Manager - West, to provide targeted executional focus and manage Foodstirs resources throughout the highly competitive and unique So Cal Area including LA/Orange County/San Diego. Position requires the ideal candidate to be scrappy, savvy, and hit the ground running to develop and identify key relationships and opportunities to drive distribution and sales growth. Responsibilities include oversight of all DSD/Distributor sales activities in So Cal markets to achieve maximum market penetration for all the company’s products in retail channels. This will entail working at both strategic and tactical levels to develop, implement, and manage programs that maximize both short and long-range objectives for the territory’s sales growth; managing day to day relationships with broker, distributer, and retail partners by scheduling ride-alongs, market tours, and store calls; serving as subject matter expert on unique market dynamics and opportunities; and working in close collaboration with the Region Sales Manager to develop and execute best in class distribution, incentive, and promotional plans. 

                          It is critical that the Area Manager have a proactive approach to sales development – addressing day-to-day operating issues as well as providing strategic input. He/she will be primarily involved in personal account selling – this could look like a headquarter call at a regional distributer, a ride along in a DSD truck, meetings with co-op owner groups, or a self-motivated market tour identifying key distribution opportunity gaps.
