Marketing Manager/Director Role Description 

Location: Santa Monica, CA             Status: Full-Time        Start Date: Immediate 

About Us:

Based in Santa Monica, Foodstirs was co-founded by successful entrepreneurs, CEO Galit Laibow, COO Greg Fleishman, and CBO Sarah Michelle Gellar. Foodstirs is disrupting the baking mix category with USDA Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified baking mixes that are superior on every level. The brand meticulously sources each of its ingredients based on four core principles: ultra-sustainability, easy-to-make, accessibly priced, and incredibly delicious from-scratch taste. In addition to regenerative and direct-sourced ingredients, the brand uses organic identity-preserved unbleached heirloom flour, chemical-free dyes, and is free from artificial preservatives and flavors.  Our products are sold nationwide at retailers including Whole Foods Market, Sprouts, Target, Kroger, Safeway, Amazon and many more. 

Position Scope:  The Marketing Manager/Director will work closely with the COO & CEO in the planning and execution of the Marketing Plan that serves to build the brand online and at retail via high impact initiatives.  

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Planning & Budget Management: Co-build the marketing plan including trade & consumer marketing budgeting
  2. Public Relations: Lead planning, execution and evaluation of the corporate communications program including influencer/blogger outreach
  3. Events: Identify, plan, and execute a targeted event calendar within our key markets
  4. Brand Partnerships: Develop, implement, & evaluate brand partnerships that can be utilized across all areas of the business including in-store shopper marketing and social media
  5. Social Content: Plan, execute, and measure a social media strategy in line with brand mission
  6. Shopper Marketing: Oversee the strategic planning and execution of all in-store activity

Sales Manager – Western US

Location: Western US                        Status: Full-Time        Start Date: Fall 2017

Position Scope:  The Sales Manager, Western Region will work closely with the national sales director on the planning, management and execution of Retail Sales for this part of the country.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Planning: Support building of annual trade promotion calendar for region across retail customers
  2. Identifying and executing on opportunities to expand the sales of Foodstirs within multiple retail channels throughout the West (as far as Texas excluding Chicago), which includes working with Foodstirs broker and distributor network to maximize sales and distribution opportunities
  3. Managing all appointed brokers and distributors to achieve quality distribution in targeted accounts, including ensuring timely execution of new item introductions, schematic implementation and promotional programming and that they have all necessary resources required to succeed in the market place (e.g., product samples, sell sheets, promotional calendars, etc)
  4. Developing and monitoring incentive programs, contests, etc. in order to keep Foodstirs top-of-mind
  5. Ensuring that all related POS (e.g. secondary displays, shelf talkers, on-pack coupons, etc.) are ordered in the right quantities and utilized effectively in the marketplace. Requesting and analyzing distribution reports to determine market coverage and opportunities for future growth
  6. Conducting store audits (with broker management and/or field sales reps where possible) to ensure merchandising standards are adhered to and promotional programming is being executed
  7. Identifying and attending (i) trade shows and (ii) sampling opportunities (whether or not on-premises) to represent the brand and develop sales opportunities

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field
  • High-level experience in the Food Industry (Whole Foods, Sprouts, NCGA, INFRA, Safeway, Kroger, Ahold) with CPG selling background in dry baking mix and center store spaces highly preferred
  • Established relationships and demonstrated success working with key retail accounts along with the leading brokers and distributors (UNFI, KeHe, DPI, DOT Foods, etc), servicing these channels
  • Strong planning and organizational along with excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills, including full competence with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook)
  • Proven Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a hands-on, fast paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Highly adaptable & resourceful
  • Proficient in Syndicated Data Tools (SPINS, Nielsen, Retailer Portals)
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the western United States
