Decorating a Christmas Tree is one of the most memorable holiday activities. Kids love getting
involved in the process. Baking ornament sugar cookies is fun for the kids and makes the tree
How to make them:
Make Foodstirs Sugar Cookie dough according to the instructions on the recipe card provided.
Once you have rolled dough out to approximately 1/4 inch, use assorted holiday cutters to
shape your cookies. If you don’t have an ornament shaped cutter, you can use a simple round
cutter and attach a small square of dough by pinching.
Transfer cookies to parchment-lined baking sheets. Use a straw or a skewer to poke holes in the
tops of your cookies so the ornaments have a way to hang. Holes should be on the bigger side
as they will close slightly when cookies bake. Place cookies in 350 degree oven and bake for 8-
10 minutes, or until edges are golden.
Decorate your cookies any way you’d like! We recommend using royal icing because it hardens,
preventing any smudging or damage to your beautiful creations. Here’s our recipe:
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons egg white powder (or meringue powder)
1 ½ teaspoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla
Sift 1 ½ cups powdered sugar and set aside. Combine the egg white powder, water, and vanilla
in a bowl and whisk. Slowly add the sifted powdered sugar and continue whisking. If the icing is
too stiff, add water ½ teaspoon at a time until the icing loosens up. Divide the icing into
separate bowls and color with natural food dye (optional). Immediately place icing in piping
bags or cover bowls with plastic wrap to avoid drying.
